We acquired Rumbles from an older European couple who travelled in him for a couple of months and at that point was located in Whangarei (10 hours bus ride; yup we took the bus to go pick him up!). Best part about the purchase is that we never physically went for viewing let alone a test drive. Were lucky that we had Jess who did that part for us gave us the green light so we wired the money through and bam he was ours!

On the drive back down to Papamoa we both realised how there were so much work needed to be done on him to make it comfortable for us to live in. I started freaking out thinking it was way too small for my liking, thanks to my claustrophobia. But don't worry i've adjusted to it now :p

Things that were off with the van:

- Carpet flooring - not the best when its always raining in NZ

- Mouldy headliner (ceiling)

- Lacking on storage / counter space

- Mould around window seams

- Not insulated

You are probably wondering why we bought it in the first place then. These would be the reasons:

- Low mileage for a 2005 model

- Young car for self-contained vans standards around here. Some of them are as old as us!!!

- Solar panel

- Roof racks & storage up top

- Already a certified self-contained so we don't have to go through the whole process

With that we have decided to do a proper renovation on Rumbles so we could call it home :) Stay tuned for updates on Rumbles 2.0!
